Hello, I am Cali Crissup and I serve as the Executive Director for the Auctioneers Associations in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia & Oklahoma. The Alabama Auctioneers Association has an upcoming conventions & we would love to see you there! Due to COVID-19, we have moved our Spring Meeting to the Fall. All attendees must sign a COVID-19 waiver to attend our events.

We have had to make a few changes, but we are looking forward to seeing everyone in Birmingham, October 11-12, 2020!

Due to the changes, we have eliminated the Jr & Champion of Champion Contests for this year, but will include them in 2021.

The Rookie & Ringman will compete on October 11. The Grand Champion Contest will be held on October 12. All awards will be presented at the President's Banquet on October 12.
The Contests are open to out of state contestants & there is a $0 fee for the contest. All contestants must be registered as a member or non member for the convention.

The CE Classes will be held on October 12th. We will require all attendees to sign a COVID-19 waiver at registration.

Speakers

Kirk Witcher is a second generation Arkansas Auctioneer. He graduated from Missouri Auction School in 2006 and shortly thereafter and became a partner in the family auction business that was started by Kenneth & Vicki Witcher in 1972.

Kirk was named the 2013 Arkansas bid calling champion and the 2016 Arkansas Champion of Champions as well as winning numerous marketing awards over the last several years. He currently serves on the Arkansas Auctioneer’s Association board of directors as Secretary/Treasurer and a 2020 state ambassador for the NAA.

Kirk is a member of the CAI Class of 2020 (now 2021 due to Covid-19), entering the final year of the prestigious program. He is co-owner of Witcher Auctions in Wynne, Akansas, specializing in the sale of farm & heavy construction machinery and also conducts numerous benefit auctions every year for local organizations.

After rejoining the family auction company in 2006, Kirk began aggressively pushing to grow the family company and learning to use technology available to reach new buyers and sellers, streamline the auction process and bring the business into the 21st century… leading the charge to re-establish the company’s brand and begin recapturing market share. In 2007, Witcher Auctions was one of the first companies in the Mid-South to begin simulcasting live auctions online and conduction online-only auctions and has since increased annual sales by over 400%, established a new permanent auction yard in Wynne, AR with regularly held auctions.

Kirk and his wife Amanda reside in the hills of eastern Arkansas with their children, Christopher, Caroline, Anna & Rosie and a new baby boy on the way in January of 2021.

Barrett Bray is the 2018 International Auctioneer Champion and the 2018 Oklahoma State Auctioneer  Champion. He is a first-generation auctioneer from Oklahoma City, OK celebrating his 10th year in  the industry. Barrett is a graduate of the Texas Auction Academy in Dallas, TX and of Central Bible  College in Springfield, MO. He has been awarded designations by the NAA in Auction Marketing Man agement and as a Benefit Auction Specialist, and will graduate from the Certified Auctioneer Institute  in 2019. In January of 2018, Bray launched his own auction company, Bray Auctions in Oklahoma  City. Barrett has been married to his wife Kristin since 2008, and they have 2 daughters, Everleigh (7)  and Olivia (5) & 1 son, Beckett (18 months).

Contest Rules for All Contest

Alabama Auctioneers Association Convention – 2020 Contest Rules

General Competition Rules

All contestants must be paid registrants, member or non member, for the convention.

Contestants do NOT have to be licensed to compete in any competition

NO entry fee for any competitions, must register for convention.

Alabama residence is not required for any contest

Contestants may enter as many Divisions for which they qualify. Contestant must not have ever won the Division(s) they are entering.

A panel of judges will be assembled by the AAA Board of directors. Judge panel will consist of 3-5 judges, preferably auctioneers.

Score sheets appropriate for each competition will be provided for each judge in each competition.

Judges shall remain the same for all contests. If a judge change is required, the AAA Board of Directors will appoint a competent replacement judge.

The AAA Board of Directors will make every attempt possible to avoid bias and/or partiality to any contestant(s) for any reason

Contestants MUST attend the roll call and contestants meetings at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday and/or Monday of the AAA Convention, prior to that evening’s competitions if they are to compete that night. (Sunday: Rookie & Ringman, Monday: Grand Champion)

Contestant orders will be drawn at the respective contestants and roll call meetings prior to each evening’s competitions.

Microphones and sound system will be adjusted and set during contestant meetings and will not be adjusted at any point during the competitions. All contestants will be allowed a sound / mic check during the contestants meetings.

Contestants understand that by competing in any competition, they are volunteering, should they win, to be an ambassador for the AAA and the auction industry at large. They will make every attempt to make appearances as needed for future events and agree to appear in press releases and promotion for the AAA.

 

Ringman Championship Competition

Contest will consist of men and women combined, no minimum age

Contestants must be a paid convention registrant, member or non.

One auctioneer will be designated by the AAA Board of Directors to sell ALL items for ALL contestants. The previous year’s Pro Grand Champion Division will be the default choice. If he/she is unable to participate for any reason, AAA will choose an auctioneer for the competition at its own discretion.

Contestants must bring 2 items with a value of $25 or more for the competition.

Contestants will be provided a microphone on a floor stand and will introduce themselves and represent their own donated items in the competition.

The designated auctioneer will ONLY call bids for the items and rely on contestant to catch all bids. The auctioneer will make every possible attempt to perform uniformly for all contestants.

Contest will consist of one round with each contestant representing (2) items.

Ringman competition will be held on Sunday night of the AAA convention, beginning at 7 p.m.

Contestants’ scores will be tabulated at the end of the ringman competition. The top three scoring contestants will be announced and awards presented at the end of the Monday night competitions.

 

Rookie Auctioneer Championship Competition

Contest will consist of men and women combined, over the age of 16

Contestants must be a paid convention registrant and have been an active auctioneer for less than 5 years. Contestants can forfeit competing in the Rookie Contest & compete in the Pro Grand Champion, but cannot return to the Rookie Contest after competing in the Pro Division.

Contestants must bring 2 items with a value of $25 or more for the competition.

Contest will consist of one round with each contestant representing (2) items. Contestants will sell the items they bring for the competition.

Rookie auctioneer competition will be held on Sunday night of the AAA convention.

Contestants’ scores will be tabulated at the end of the Rookie competition. The top three scoring contestants will be announced and awards presented at the end of the Monday night competitions.

 

Professional Grand Champion Auctioneer Competition

Contest will consist of men and women combined, over the age of 18

Contestants must be a paid convention registrant and and have been an active auctioneer for more than 5 years, unless a previous Rookie Champion. Previous Champions or those that opt to compete in the Pro Grand Champion Division cannot return to the Rookie Division.

Contestants must bring 3 items with a value of $25 or more for the competition.

Contest will consist of one preliminary round with each contestant representing (2) items. Preliminary round will be held on Monday night of the AAA convention.

The number of contestants that advance to the finals round will be determined by the total number of contestants as follows.

Finals round will consist of an interview portion with each contestant answering 1 question then selling their final item. All items not sold in the finals will be donated to the Fun Auction.

Contestants’ scores will be tabulated at the end of the competition. The top three scoring contestants will be announced and awards presented at the end of the Monday night competitions.

 

Awards

Ringman Competition: $250 + buckle to winner, 2nd and 3rd place award

Rookie Auctioneer Competition: $250 + buckle to winner, 2nd and 3rd place award

Pro Grand Champion Auctioneer Competition: $1000 + buckle to winner, 2nd place & 3rd place award
